Greetings! It’s time for our November update regarding the Teaching & Learning team’s project to reimagine and redesign the delivery system for the Aligned Round Rock Curriculum (ARRC). Click here to check out our launch post for more background on the project.
We moved through the Inspiration phase throughout the months of October and November collecting survey responses and conducting 18 focus groups consisting of various stakeholders. The Research and Evaluation department partnered with our team to synthesis the feedback into a Comprehensive Needs Assessment which is guiding our design work moving forward.
Several trends emerged throughout the survey and focus groups with teachers and principals seeing the current version of the ARRC as a valuable resource and tool utilized frequently when planning lessons. It is also clear that everyone is seeking more flexibility, increased searchability, and a simpler user interface. It is also clear that teachers are looking for a resource that helps them learn from one another by sharing lesson plans and resources peer-to-peer.
As the Inspiration phase of our design project is wrapping up we move next to the Ideation phase as small teams will begin prototyping solutions. We will be seeking feedback throughout so don’t be surprised if someone reaches out for your thoughts on certain features. The plan is to start sharing certain new features and interfaces with small groups by spring break with the Implementation phase kicking off in late spring and early summer 2019.
- Starting now, our team will start developing the ideas and trends into prototypes of solutions.
- In early spring we will start testing out chosen solutions with select groups and making adjustments based on feedback.
- The new version of the ARRC will be published and live by summer 2018.
- Communication and training will be available throughout the summer prior to the start of the 2018-19 school year.
Please keep in mind that the TEKS, Units, Lessons & Learning Experiences, and DCAs, are not changing. But, the look and feel of that way you interact with that content will be redesigned.
