The RRISD Transition Fair was held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Round Rock High School. Over 650 people attended, visiting the booths of 87 vendors, booths which were color-coded by service type. Food from 7 different vendors provided a free lunch to attendees. Multiple breakout sessions were available, and several interpreters were on hand to help our Spanish speaking families access the fair.
The vendor booths lined the front main hallways in the RRHS 1200 building. The vendors included: representatives from various colleges; community organizations and governmental agencies; advocacy groups and legal advisers; assistive technology demos; and some booths with items created and sold by persons with disabilities.
The Destination Life fair was a resounding success, and that is primarily thanks to the efforts of our special education Parent Liaisons, Candy Squilla and Rosie Beattie, and our Transition Specialist, Carol Huntley, who collaborated with their counterparts from 9 other area school districts to plan and implement the fair. Thank you, Candy, Rosie, and Carol, for your dedication to our students and their families!
