RROCK Ready is a community partnership fostering early literacy development prior to students entering school. As Bill Gates once said, “The first five years have so much to do with how the next 80 years turn out.” Research proves the first five years are critical to a child’s development. RROCK Ready aims to partner with community members and childcare providers who interact with children during these critical learning years to ensure all students enter school ready to learn.
Comprised of stakeholders from across the district, members of the RROCK Ready committee developed a partnership model. Through this partnership, childcare providers (licensed child care facilities and registered in-home daycares) will receive specialized professional development opportunities in the areas of early literacy, early numeracy, social-emotional learning, and differentiation. In addition, partners will receive access to district resources and tools to support family engagement.
Informational sessions are being held twice a year (fall/spring) to recruit potential RROCK Ready partners. Currently, thirty-nine childcare providers have committed to partner with Round Rock ISD during the 18-19 school year. The next informational session will be Thursday, March 29th.
