The second celebration of all things Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics was scheduled for the beautiful Prete Plaza in downtown Round Rock on Friday, May the 4th. The weather had other plans though and the event was relocated the event to Joe Lee Johnson STEAM Academy. The vision of STEM Fest is to build and support the STEM identities of all students from early childhood through high school so that they see the growing possibilities of life in STEM as either a field of study, career or as a STEM-literate citizen able to contribute to their community.
This year STEM Fest was truly a One Family event with leadership and volunteers from departments and schools all across Round Rock ISD coming together with our community organizations and families to enjoy an evening of wonder and out of this world fun!
We would especially like to thank the Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation, the Round Rock ISD Executive Leadership Team, and the Board of Trustees for supporting STEM Fest. With their help, STEM Fest was attended by 1,194 people with a media reach of over 38,000 people on Facebook including near 1,600 responses and 3,900 views. On Twitter, STEM Fest had over 12,000 impressions.
Here is what our community partners and families said about STEM Fest:
