University of Texas OnRamps Program in Round Rock ISD for the 2019-2020 School Year

Round Rock ISD continues to partner with UT OnRamps as one of our college credit in high school opportunity providers, offering courses during the school day on high school campuses. OnRamps is an innovative dual-enrollment program which brings rigorous courses aligned with the high standards and expectations of The University of Texas at Austin to our district students. They key benefit of early exposure to postsecondary education is the authentic entry point to college expectations it provides for students and their families. Additionally, students are eligible to earn transferable college credit, accelerating degree completion and reducing costs associated with college.

Students are taught by a high school teacher in collaboration with a college professor, and take college assessments over the course of the year. If the student score average is at least 75% on the fall assessments, they are eligible to earn college credit for their coursework in the spring. High school grades and college grades are recorded separately, and a passing college grade results in a UT transcript. Costs related to the courses are determined by the state appropriation and UT Austin. Check with your counselor for the available options, as they vary by campus.

GPA/Class Rank

Due community feedback and the rigor of the courses, the high school grade from the OnRamps course is now weighted and included for GPA and rank in class calculations.

Enrollment Fee

Costs related to the courses were previously covered at 100% by the state, but program growth has outpaced funding. For the 2019-2020 school year, it is anticipated that the per course student enrollment fee for UT OnRamps will be $149 ($99 for free/reduced lunch eligible students), providing the program receives the same level of state funding. Students will pay this directly to UT at the beginning of the school year through their UT portal. The student enrollment fee includes course content, instruction, technology access, assessments, and course credit if earned. Note: All college credit opportunities have similar associated costs, whether it is for the exam (AP/IB) or textbook (dual credit).
